Playing a specialist technical role (cyber security) in providing effective, efficient and fully integrated IT operational services that maximise their availability and integrity for end-users and optimise the value the Trust(s) gains from its investment in IT.

The Cyber Security Specialist works as a Technical lead to help manage cybersecurity compliance across the Trusts ICT Infrastructure and applications, reducingthe Threat Exposure Score and minimising the attack surface across.

Responsible for the management of the ICT Staff, network management, budget management, procurement, installation, maintenance, availability and security of the College network, hardware and software.Also Responsible for the Team Leadership of the other Technical Teams in the College, this includes Science, Art and Technology Departments.Skills include:− An instrumental player in making the College a Maths and Computing specialist, including a netbook scheme for all students which they can sign up for.− Managing and maintaining all telecoms system, mobile phones, fixed desk phones and emergency phones in lifts. Also developed and deployed an intelligent managed Wi-Fi system− Dealing with external companies which provide external ICT Support for cabling to business Internet Connections. Also a member of school forum which provide solutions and technical expertise for primary schools across the island.− Work closely with Google and Capita to produce powerful learning aids for both Students and Staff. Particular focus on Cloud storage and Cloud Applications.− Being chief advisor for all technical aspects for the College including advice in aspects like data protection and dealing with students in sensitive “cyber-bullying” cases.− Managing Physical Rack Servers with SANs, Enterprise Blade Enclosures and Virtual Hyper-V Servers with complex backup systems which gives access to their data on and off site. Also akeen user on the latest versions of Microsoft products, Server 2012 R2, Windows 8.1 and Office 2013.− Complete setup of an enterprise level networking infrastructure, particular focus in HP switchgear, VLANs and scalable trunking.− Developed and maintain databases for equipment registers to student netbook registers which work together to give staff good awareness to which users and what rooms have particular equipment.− Provide in-house training for staff as and when they need it, also run an after College computer club for the students.

Skills include:− Development, implementation, and monitoring of the schools practices for data protection,internet use, e-mail, security and ICT resource management.− Co-ordinating and providing technical direction and support related to the design,implementation, operation and maintenance of the equipment and networks− Effectively leading a team of ICT technicians− Detailed understanding of the workings of many different versions of Linux (principally Ubuntu),and Mac Operating Systems.− The development of a terminal system and remote logging-on system which can be accessedfrom any location in the world with internet access for staff to use the school system; enrichedwith a fully functional SIMS and office platforms.− Strong interpersonal skills

Skills include:− The development and management of a CCTV system and a printing suite, which houseshigh-end printing equipment (banner printers) for use by the students, staff and the generalpublic.− Adopting an “In house” approach to constructing and developing a school network, as we buildthe computers from specialist parts, and only ever buy ready-made Laptops.− Re-installation and maintenance of all laptops bought in, for the use of staff at home and atwork
