Building and leading an awesome #culture to build and operate tool augmented language models #TALM. Our first tool is retrieval, also classified as a #RALM.#RALM is vastly different than #RAG. A #RALM or retrieval augmented language model integrates tools (in this case retrieval) as layers within a #LLM. #RAG and other approaches such as #MemGPT are #marginallia which continue to be expensive, blow out the context window, and have impaired generation results.

• Led technical delivery of Telco Cloud Automation (TCA) 1.9, 2.0.• Technical leadership service for the 130-person organization, including 10 managers and 15 staff1/staff2 engineers.• Implemented a technical hierarchy to improve outcomes.

• Co-lead IBM's investment in Istio's upstream development.• Delivered upstream Istio 1.3 to Istio 1.8 for consumption within four product workstreams with products in the market. • Istio Environments Workgroup Lead responsible for multicluster, virtual machine integration, and upgrade. Led ~12 maintainers and 50+ contributors across Istio. Led the development of consistent improvement of these related areas. These improvements are used within Istio's vendors' ecosystem by at least six known vendors and many more that are unknown. • Member of IBM's Open Technologies team with a focus on Istio. Performed open source mentoring and Istio advocacy, typically producing four release blogs a year. Mentored five people at any time with a total of ~twenty mentees per year.

• Led NetApp's Istio upstream community engagement. • Led NetApp's productization of Istio's features in NetApp's managed Kubernetes product. • Designed and implemented Istio multicloud Controller to automate the secure connectivity of applications between multiple Kubernetes environments.

• Responsible for Cisco's upstream technical investment in Istio Service Mesh and established Cisco has a significant initial contributor to the project. • One of five PEs and two DEs responsible for Cisco's technical development of Harmony, a system to deploy OpenStack on Kubernetes. The main responsibility was the technical leadership of "ocCore" - the core converged infrastructure of K8s and OpenStack. The total team involved about 300 people in the Cloud BU. • Served as Kolla project team lead, a solution to deploy OpenStack using Ansible in Docker containers. This effort involved leading approximately 75 individual contributors from a diverse set of firms. Kolla is the dominant OpenStack deployment tooling in use today. • Led initial implementation of Magnum, a Kubernetes deployment solution for OpenStack. This effort involved leading approximately 40 individual contributors. Magnum is the community choice for managing Kubernetes on OpenStack.

• Founder, designer, and initial implementor of OpenStack Heat orchestration engine. • Led 100+ people per development cycle with excellent corporate diversity to improve Heat. • Founder of OpenStack Kolla project to deploy OpenStack in Docker containers using Ansible.• Co-founder, designer, and initial implementor of OpenStack Magnum project to deploy Kubernetes on OpenStack. • These projects delivered improved brand awareness and enhance OpenStack's functionality for downstream adoption within Red Hat OpenStack.

• Technical co-lead for Red Hat clustering, recording over one billion dollars of revenue. • Founded, designed, and implemented Corosync used in the modern high availability stack in Linux. • Implemented approximately 80% of Corosync's codebase. • Implemented the Totem protocol, which delivers extended virtual synchrony guarantees. • Implemented the Totem Redundant Ring protocol. • Implemented Infiniband RDMA support, UDP unicast to meet customer environmental requirements. • Supported, debugged, and diagnosed customer issues and delivered timely updates.

• Developed three different releases of MontaVista Carrier Grade Linux with responsibility for kernel and userspace features. • Served as editor for CGL 1.1, 2.0, and 3.0 specifications.• Founder of OpenAIS, which implements Service Availability Forum's high availability APIs.

• Developed RAID firmware, BIOS software, and web browser pluggable protocol feature to provide web management of i960 RAID hardware.
