They say it’s in our DNA, with a family full of accountants, I was predestined for the business and accounting world. Where other kids earned their allowance helping with chores around the house, I made mine photocopying and helping in my parents’ home accounting office. As I grew up, the photocopying turned into bookkeeping and tax returns, and after my first high school accounting class, I knew this was the path for me. After receiving a BBA from Wilfrid Laurier University and completing my CPA designation, I officially graduated from the classrooms. Although the textbooks never close, I have spent the last decade working with entrepreneurial businesses and not-for-profit organizations. What I enjoy most about working with small businesses is both adding value and helping their businesses grow to achieve their goals. While it’s rare to hear anyone describe accounting and tax as simple, or exciting for that matter, I get excited about the prospect of learning about client’s businesses and strive to help simplify their unique tax and accounting challenges.Numbers aside, when I am not at the office, you can find me sitting on the Board of local charities, running all over the GTA, playing hockey or enjoying time at the lake.
