I have had a love of aviation from as far back as I can remember. That love gave me my life’s goal. Pursuing that goal was the vehicle that allowed me to achieve things only dreamed of by many.I am a United States Armed Forces veteran. The five years spent as an officer in the United States Air Force taught me: Professionalism, Work Ethic, Teamwork, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Social Responsibility; attributes that, once learned, are never lost.Thirty-two years working as an airline pilot and training instructor allowed me to work with some of the finest individuals in the aviation industry. The job required excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills; and it required sound judgment and perpetual vigilance. My experience as an entrepreneur, building and running a computer application (PowerBids) allowed me to exploit my creative talent. PowerBids touched and enriched the lives of many people. I’m proud of what I could give them. In 2015, an exhaustive twelve-week immersion class into web development, reinforced and updated my programming ability. It was a challenge and great fun to work with a young generation of professionals. That lead to the opportunity to participate in Microsoft's LEAP program, a sixteen-week embedded accelerated learning program. And, from there I was fortunate to get asked back to work for Microsoft as a full time software engineering contractor.A link to my personal website, www.sdeddens.com, is in the contacts tab above. The website has two main sections: The first section contains the Vignettes. They are, in reverse chronological order, short illustrations that provide a window into the various facets of my life. I invite you to explore them. The second section is a showcase of my General Assembly Web Development Immersive Projects. They are the result of three months of intensive web studies to develop skills required to be a “Full Stack” web developer.
Listed skills include Visual Studio, .Net, C#, Azure Service Fabric, and 19 others.
