Two case studies, based on real-world data from an industrial partner anticipate the potential for substantial cost savings of up to 17.7% ($1.2 million CAD) as a result of reduced operational costs in the optimized planning. The developed decision support tool identifies the optimal harvesting periods by optimizing the available resources such as the harvesting crews. Case studies on real company data anticipate significant profit increase by harvesting the cane close to their maturation peaks.
