Zamar was founded in the summer of 1993 by a small group of entrepreneurs, including myself, Harold Mitchell, and Jamie McGregor. After a fire closed down the company the guys worked for in Boulder, CO, we seized the opportunity to go into business for ourselves. With a shared vision and drive, we established Zamar, specializing in screen printing, embroidery, and promotional products. Today, Zamar is known for delivering high-quality products and exceptional service, earning the trust of clients across various industries.

I played a pivotal role in the early stages of the company, contributing to its establishment and growth. In the early days, we had a small team, which required each of us to take on multiple roles to ensure the smooth operation of the business. My key responsibilities included:Sales Management: Led day-to-day sales efforts, managing client relationships and identifying opportunities to grow the business.Accounting: Handled all financial aspects of the company, including bookkeeping, invoicing, and financial reporting.Operational Leadership: Provided general guidance and decision-making support for the company, ensuring that both short- and long-term goals were met.Cross-functional Collaboration: Worked closely with the production team to ensure that orders were completed efficiently and to high standards.Business Strategy: Contributed to the overall direction and strategy of the company, helping to shape its future growth and development.

In my current role as Matriarch at Zamar, I lead the marketing efforts, direct day-to-day operations, and oversee new business ventures. As the company has grown, my responsibilities have expanded to include:Marketing Team Leadership: Spearhead the development and execution of marketing strategies, ensuring brand consistency and market growth.Operational Oversight: Direct the operational aspects of the company, focusing on efficiency, productivity, and the achievement of company objectives.New Business Ventures: Lead the exploration and development of new business opportunities, guiding Zamar into new markets and product lines.Strategic Decision-Making: Work closely with the executive team to shape the long-term vision and direction of the company.Mentorship and Leadership: Serve as a mentor to staff, fostering a positive and growth-focused company culture.

In March 2020 I earned the certification of MAS administered by Promotional Products Association International , the largest international not-for-profit association for more than 16,000 members of the $24-plus billion promotional products industry. A relatively small percentage of professionals hold these certifications and are often the industry's innovators and leaders. PPAI Certification Program has been recognized as a reliable indicator of professionalism and excellence in the promotional products industry.The Certified Advertising Specialist (CAS), Master Advertising Specialist (MAS) Certifications are the promotional products industry's premier professional designations. Individuals with a PPAI Certification are industry leaders -- those who have attained a higher standard of professional competence, knowledge and experience. PPAI industry certification is acquired through a combination of dedicated certification classes, demonstrated years of employment in the industry, elective courses, and a successful demonstration of expertise. Certification is maintained through continuing education to ensure current knowledge and leading-edge professional skills.The Certified Advertising Specialist (CAS) Certification requires 25 hours from a structured industry approved curriculum along with 25 elective credits, completion of the Trained Advertising Specialist (TAS) certificate, and a passing score on the CAS Certification dedicated course quizzes.The Master Advertising Specialist (MAS) Certification requires completion of and current CAS Certification, a minimum three years of experience in the promotional products industry, 15 MAS-level dedicated courses with quizzes and 35 MAS-level electives.

I had the privilege of being part of the early discussions that led to the creation of the SHE Leads group, which began in Beth's basement. The women involved had many years of business experience, and we had seen both the strengths and shortcomings of various networking groups. It fills me with pride to know I played a role in starting what has become such an amazing organization. Under Beth’s leadership, SHE Leads has grown into a highly successful networking group that empowers women in business.
