For the past few years, I have been traveling around the United States researching the Tiny Home movement. The need for affordable, sustainable housing has been growing and shows no sign of letting up in the foreseeable future. I have visited Tiny Home communities, manufacturers and local permit and zoning offices in many states in America. The excitement around this movement is infectious. The sense of community you feel from the people who tell you about their experiences living in their Tiny Homes is uplifting.While Tiny Homes have been around for some time, it is still a relatively new industry. As with many new industries, there can be a lot of confusion in terms of definitions, laws, quality and standards. While most states are interested in affordable, sustainable housing solutions, the laws governing the Tiny Home solution will always boil down to the local authority. Anyone working in this industry needs to be knowledgeable and have the patience to explain what is possible, helping to dispel myths and misinformation. There is also a huge range of quality and costs associated with getting a Tiny Home. I have been fortunate in my travels to discover Endeavor Atomic Tiny Homes and Abby Shank.
