Joining Telenet, a company I’ve always held in high regard for its cutting-edge network capabilities, was a significant move in my career. As the firm charted its course through the integration of its recent acquisition, Base (previously a KPN company), I found myself deeply embedded in the internal IT department, responsible for the enhancement of the employee support infrastructure. This period coincided with Telenet’s early strides toward adopting Office 365 and embarking on expansive Digital Workplace modernization endeavors. In response to KPN-Getronics's strategic realignment towards the Dutch market, segments of Getronics began their divestment journey. While the North American branches were already moved to CompuCom, the Europe and APAC segments were earmarked for Aurelius by 2012. Amidst these changes, I transitioned from the Internal Global IT department to strengthen Getronics Belgium's Remote Managed Services division — a specialized team dedicated to meeting the unique IT needs of esteemed enterprise clients in the banking, insurance, and industry sectors.Key Responsibilities:• Provided support across the full lifecycle of server infrastructure, with a specialization in Microsoft core infrastructure, Citrix, VMWare, Exchange, SAN, among others.• Played a central role alongside a team in the migration and onboarding of clients to our VCE vBlock cloud platform (IaaS/DRaaS), ensuring seamless integration and operational consistency.

Early in my career, I joined WANG, a distinguished US-based IT service provider. Throughout my time there, the company underwent several significant transitions. It first rebranded as Wang Global, integrating the Italian Olivetti Systems and Services Division (OLSY). Later, it merged with the Dutch firm Getronics, evolving into a vast global entity with revenues touching $5bn and a workforce of 33,000. As market challenges arose, Dutch telecom giant KPN stepped in, acquiring the company in 2007. These transitions resembled a roller coaster, with employee numbers swinging back and forth from around 10,000 when I started to a peak of 47,000 following the KPN acquisition.My Experience:• Adapted to the frequent corporate restructurings, advancing from a Service Center position to an ICT Infrastructure Engineer, each bringing unique learning opportunities.• A significant part of my time was within the Internal Global IT department, directly addressing the technical challenges accompanying the organizational changes.• Our Global IT environment consistently evolved to stay at the forefront of technology, meeting not only internal needs but also serving as a showcase for clients.Contributions:• Participated in a variety of IT projects, including migrations, consolidations, carve-outs, and datacenter relocations, amongst other tasks. These projects not only honed skills like teamwork, project management, and problem-solving but also emphasized the importance of staying open-minded and maintaining a positive attitude while understanding and respecting the sensitivities surrounding various changes.• Supported the company's Global Exchange and AD environment that spanned more than 40 countries, leveraging core Microsoft infrastructure for streamlined operations. This included our active participation in the 'Bravehearts' Microsoft Joint Development Program for Exchange 2000, offering clients a look into a proven, advanced environment.
