In this position, it is my job to design, build, install, and maintain exhibits with digital or interactive content. This includes meetings with other people in relevant positions, designing the exhibit, purchasing the required parts and materials, prototyping, constructing, programming, wiring, and eventually placing the exhibit out on the floor. This also includes setting up projectors, speakers, media players, sensors, monitors, iPads, computers, etc and any buttons, levers, etc that may be hooked up to them. A large part of the design process is understanding how the guests will interact with the exhibit and planning accordingly to make the exhibit as intuitive and easy to understand as possible, as well as hold up to regular use. I am tasked with regularly testing and repairing permanent exhibits to ensure they function smoothly. I also make improvements on current exhibits to ensure they efficiently portray the specific lesson intended, they're easy to use and understand, and are sturdy enough to endure regular interaction with guests. Occasionally, I lend a hand with art installation or transport, as well as other exhibit prep such as painting, mounting, lighting, etc.

In this position I was tasked to engage guests and educate them about aspects of science highlighted by the exhibits. There were a number of daily science demonstrations that were led by myself. These were designed to encourage guest experimentation and learning, and included a presentation relating to a specific theme or topic. I was also tasked with hosting several daily planetarium shows and operating the system. In addition to the educational aspects of the position, I was tasked with occasional care of the live animal collection. This included feeding, monitoring, cleaning after, and handling various different animals, mainly marine life and reptiles. I was also tasked with simple maintenance and cleaning of exhibits.

This was a part-time position leading up to Halloween. The purpose of this position was to be present on the floor at all times and to give costumers advice and assistance on finding Halloween costumes or designing their own.
