I enjoy sharing my passion about powerboats & boating. That enthusiasm has brought me to LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram to exchange with others my knowledge and interests in addition to connecting with and learning from the greater online community. I've enjoyed boating experiences on the Chesapeake Bay, Lake Champlain, 4 of the 5 Great Lakes, and both the Atlantic & Pacific Oceans—as well as several rivers across the US & Canada. One of my favorite boating cruises is the run up the ICW (the ditch), which I’ve done a dozen times. I’ve been learning about boating first-hand since the age of 8, when my uncle gave me a fixer-upper with the proviso that I "make it seaworthy". By the age of 12, I was experimenting with fiberglass. Since then I’ve been absorbing various aspects of the marine industry like a sponge.Last but not least, I've enjoyed being:► Past-president of the Marine Division of one of the larger U.S. Chambers of Commerce► Past member of yacht clubs► Buyer and Merchandiser of boats and marine products► Marine Trades Consultant► Owner of 4 retail boat stores (one waterfront) ► The USA representative in Mexico for the Newport/Ensenada Boat RaceGaining a new insight and hearing a little-known fact are gems that bring a smile to my face. I hope that my love for boating and depth of knowledge about the industry—from powerboat design and manufacturing to sales—will put a smile on others’ faces as well.Sharing my knowledge manifests in many ways, from public speaking to 1:1 instruction. In the 1990s, I was an early powerboat blogger & contributor to online bulletin boards, boating forums & community message boards. My book, “Cruising Guide to NY Waterways & Lake Champlain”, was the #2 cruising guide on Amazon. Since then I’ve contributed articles to various magazines and have been serious about powerboat blogging and sharing content, including on www.seabuddybrown.com. I'm always happy to help people new to boating—as well as those who are seasoned—with connections, tips, and resources that can help them answer a wide range of questions. Featured Columnist, Proptalk Magazine | Chesapeake Bay Classic Boating, Boat PreservationSpinsheet Publishing Company Mar 2014 - PresentAnnapolis, Md, Us"PropTalk" and its sister publication, "SpinSheet" are popular monthly magazines (for power and sail boaters respectively) along the Chesapeake Bay. I was honored to be recommended for this opportunity and was excited to initially cover power boat racing for our readers. The power racing circuit has a wide reach and a long history in the Chesapeake Bay, and several racing families have been represented over the years by multiple generations.Today I'm responsible for creating & submitting:► A full-page article each month in PropTalk Magazine's "Classic Boat" column► 1/2 page Cruising Notes about Chesapeake Bay Chapter-ACBS boating events ► Special assignments as needed -
Publicity Chair | Annual Classic Boat Festival & Fundraiser For The Chesapeake Bay Chapter - AcbsAcbs 2009 - PresentAnnapolis, Maryland, UsI proactively organized and managed the Media Relations efforts to promote this signature annual Father's Day weekend event that draws thousands of repeat attendees from up and down the northeast corridor and as far west as Texas. This is the largest classic boat show in the Mid-Atlantic, with over 100 juried boats (Wood, Fiberglass & Metal) displayed in water and on land across the 17-acre grounds of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in historic St Michaels, MD. This signature event also features a "show within the show" — The Arts at Navy Point — as well as activities for kids, including a youth judging event. Each year has a special theme. Here are a few examples...► Our 2011 festival's feature attraction was the exquisite mahogany racer, Miss America IX — the first boat to break 100 mph. ► For our Silver Anniversary event we featured a collection of the rare Chris-Craft Silver Arrows from the late '50s.► More recently we made raceboats the feature for another annual festival, attracting raceboat clubs as well as individual racers across the mid-Atlantic.Each year we recognize the wide diversity of antique boats that have been preserved and restored — from skiffs and runabouts to cruisers, from mahogany to metal and fiberglass boats. -
Pr & Powerboat Blogger | Fiberglass & Classic Wood Boats: Runabouts To Cruisers To Mega YachtsSeabuddy Brown Boats 2007 - PresentAs blogging began to emerge on the scene and chatboards (forums) became less popular, I decided to jump in and start my own blog under the "seabuddy" name that I've been using professionally for years. I'm interested in every aspect of boating so I closely follow both the industry's trends and issues as well as the latest innovations and new product introductions. SeabuddyBrown Boats.com provides a way for me to share those developments from a perspective of over 40 years' experience in what I trust are helpful insights to a wide range of boaters. I especially enjoy the feedback I receive from readers when I share insights about icons like Don Aronow, Raymond Loewy and Jim Wynne who made such an impact on the boating industry.Today I've extended my outreach to over 11k LinkedIn connections and 12k Facebook members. I'm currently hosting 4 active Facebook groups and also contributing regularly to the FB groups organized by two ACBS chapters.

Published Author | "Cruising Guide To Ny Waterways & Lake Champlain"A Minus Llc 1994 - 1999I was planning to make my first voyage on the Great Circle route when I discovered a surprising lack of good information for recreational boaters who were cruising major waterways in NY State. This was due in part to the history of the Erie Canal and New York State's extensive lock system, which were originally built for commerce rather than recreation.i saw this as a real opportunity to provide value on several levels:► Boaters traveling via powerboat or sail craft appreciated need-to-know information about the waterway and facilities for their journey. ► Sharing the rich and fascinating history of New York, reaching back to the early American colonies, to provide another level of interest in the towns and waterways that became so integral to our success as a young nation.►The opportunity to publish a completely objective review of all the regional marinas, restaurants and boater facilities, since there was no advertising in this cruising guide. So I conceptualized, researched, interviewed, wrote, and co-photographed a 450-page travel guide for boaters covering the major waterways of New York State. Then I struck a deal with Pelican, which publishes 40 hard- and soft-cover books annually. My book was Pelican's first expansion into the Northeast for its successful series of similar cruising guides for recreational power boaters and sailors. Based on my promotional efforts, my book moved up in the very crowded category of North American cruising guides to become the #2 top-selling cruising guide on Amazon in 1999. i accomplished this by:► Working with yacht clubs and radio programs as an expert speaker/interviewee about boating.► Participating in the water access panel for the city of Albany, NY.► Serving on several committees to help boaters use/access the Erie Canal for the state of NY.► Supporting as a sponsor the longest running major boat show via book giveaways.
