Responsible for the server provisioning program across all Facebook datacenters (DC) (> “x” million servers). Manage the work of 64 engineers who deliver the provisioning tooling and automation requirements for Facebook DC’s. Gather requirements by partnering with DC sustaining leads, DC site managers, engineers and engineering leads. To be successful in this role, it is necessary to understand the core provisioning architecture, processes and tooling (often down to a SQL, Database, API, thrift and Python level). • Prioritise and plan the engineering work with scale in mind; includes roadmap, architecture and engineering resource planning, writing program/project wiki's, project tracking & planning, task prioritization & tagging, critical path and milestone planning & tracking.• Report in person to infrastructure VP’s, Directors and Senior Managers on a frequent basis; keeping them informed about issues, blockers, backlog items and progress.• Built the business case and an alternative strategy using data in Tableau, Excel PowerPivot, Hive and Presto not to hire DC field engineers for the DC VP.• Built a monitoring and control dashboard during a hack event to give a snapshot of the DC health for the DC oncall teams.• Identified 146k servers of wasted capacity and built a usage alerting system for all FB teams that use server capacity.• Develop and maintain metrics such as KPI’s, SLA’s and overall statistics related to provisioning.• Train and onboard PM’s and Engineers in the provisioning space.• Owner and facilitator of two companywide global meetings (DC checkpoint & SEV review).• Enjoy getting “hands on” by digging into data via SQL and Python.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, managed the European Managed Review Service (MRS) team. The key focus of this program was to automate the process for user generated content submitted to Microsoft for review and publication. Post processing, the content is released to Microsoft services such as Universal Store (apps store) and Bing. • Scaled the program to process over 45 million content items per month via machine learning and manual review services which helped business partners make informed decisions on content publication and delivery. • Designed and on-boarded new capabilities to the MRS team such as identity validation and vetting, anti-money laundering compliance and developer onboarding and payout. • Trained Lean Six Sigma concepts to co-workers right through to certification.• Developed content moderation policies for URL, text, images and video content for Bing.• A key contributor of PhotoDNA Cloud Service.• Designed the architecture for Bing CJEU European Right to Be Forgotten (RTBF) and Russia Data Protection programs. This included building the policies and public reports along with managing the related engineering and review teams.• Worked with the Microsoft legal and compliance team on a very regular basis.

This was a Business and Technical role where a deep understanding of core technologies such as Windows Server 2012 & SQL Server 2012 was required. Supported some of Microsoft's largest internal customers such as Office, Bing, MSN, Azure, SQL Server, Dynamics and much more from a business and engineering perspective. • Designed processes and technology solutions to identify and resolve service issues prior to production release. • Liaised with senior management and business partners and ensure on-time delivery of releases in line with department SLAs, OLAs and KPIs. • Migrated a 300TB SAN to a new DC using SQL Server tooling with < 2hrs downtime that was used daily by 96K developers. It would have been far easier to use EMC Isilon SyncIQ Data Replication Services, but it was not available to use over license issues. • Designed and developed the archiving system for Microsoft Visual Studio Team Foundation Service (VSTF/TFS - VSTF hosts all Microsoft’s source code).

Managed approximately three hundred servers, over one hundred applications and more than four hundred websites in CSC’s European and US datacenters. Significant time was spent working on strategic IT productivity and cost saving projects for both CSC and Ingersoll Rand. • Worked on many European, Global and executive leadership teams, very often in a project management or project leadership position. • Directed a large project team that migrated servers from Hewlett Packard Germany to ACS-Xerox in the US and then migrated over two thousand servers from ACS-Xerox to CSC. • Executed and built the business case for Vodafone’s (VGE) very first pan European ICT contract for 148 Ingersoll Rand sites that saved approx. €2 million per annum. This became a Vodafone service offering to other EU companies after the project success.• Migrated Navision Dynamics ERP from a flat file storage system to Microsoft SQL Server. Microsoft SQL Server offered better speed, scalability, security, backup and disaster recovery features.• Built an active RFID system for ThermoKing’s product line using AeroScout and Cisco Location Services.

I work for Ingersoll Rand, Corporate Centre (global position) and my position allows the flexibility and freedom to get involved with cross functional and cross sector teams. I spend a large proportion of my time working on IT productivity and cost saving projects. I also managed the voice contract for 148 sites and 10,000+ users in Europe.My position involves working closely with application owners and our datacentre outsourcing partner in order to scale, architect and configure new and existing systems for the global application user community. My position also includes the Global Support of Microsoft Threat Management Gateway 2010 & ISA 2006, Windows Server 2008 & 2003, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 & 2005, Oracle Hyperion, Citrix XenApp & Presentation Server. As you can see, I hold a diverse role with the only constant being change.

As a member of the database administration team our primary purpose was to support and maintain all Microsoft database systems for Thermoking in EMEIA and the US.

Major responsibility:Navision Dynamics is an ERP system used by ThermoKing and I supported users in the UK, New Zealand, Japan, China and The Netherlands.I was responsible for the implementation and installations of all upgrades in Navision Dynamics. I spent much of my time facilitating key stakeholders in alignment and engagement for upgrades and holding them accountable for delivering on their commitments. I supported the business in the development and documentation of new functional requirements and worked with our partner Dysel BV during development and implementation phases. I introduced the Ingersoll Rand change management process to Navision and applied it to all changes. I worked with the user community and developed the functional test plans during upgrades for User Acceptance Testing (UAT). I managed the business users and key stake holders in performing detailed cut-over planning, UAT & integration testing during production releases. I project managed one major release end to end. In this release we migrated the Navision database from a flat file C/SIDE database to a Microsoft SQL Server database. This took three years to plan and execute. It required major data analysis, data clean-up, conversion and validation during the "politically challenged" upgrade!Other duties:I was the Citrix administrator and webmaster for www.thermoking.com and www.hussmann.com business sectors.

I supported five of Dell's Class 1 applications, these Class 1 applications are Dell's proprietary order download, picking, building, image burn to shipment.During the installation of two new manufacturing lines I was working with senior management, project management, production and the GDC India development team to meet the aggressive stabilisation, ramp up, readiness and quality requirements for US & EMEA pre-Christmas orders.I also worked as an Incident Manager providing cover when the primary resource was absent or on leave. This position involved managing incidents and support teams to restore service within the SLA during an unexpected outage.

Celestica is a contract manufacturer of InkJet cartridges for Hewlett Packard, both companies are integrated from a management and engineering prospective regarding the InkJet business.I was hired primarily as a application developer. Celestica was a small company with a total of three IT staff and I became a “jack of all trades” while working there.Applications Developer: (Core Job Function)I primarily used Visual Basic & Active Server Pages and leveraged Sed & Awk tools with Korn & Perl scripting languages on HP-UX and SCO Linux.I developed many systems for Celestica, some of which are as follows:A yield system for High Volume Automated Manufacturing lines. I worked on many projects in Tyco, some of which are as follows:I changed their bar-coding systems to improve quality and reduce cost. Developed an application for project tracking/implementation across all departments.Worked on the software validation and audit team for the FDA 21 CFR Part 11 specification.

Designed and implemented X-RAY algorithms for automating the inspection of printed circuit boards (PCB). This was one of the first Automated PCB X-RAY systems in the world and the first system in Ireland to be used in SMT manufacturing.I supported a Part Verification & Bar-coding System on SCO Linux. This was the first high speed SMT part verification system in the world and I worked daily with the vendor during the design to implementation phases. This system was sold into every region and to hundreds of SMT companies post development.
