About Sean C. Thayer

I am currently a Research Psychologist working with the United States Navy in the Simulation and Training Research to Improve Knowledge and Effectiveness (STRIKE) Lab. Our work focuses on improving human performance and warfighter readiness through the optimal design of military training systems. My responsibilities engage my background in the cognitive sciences and human factors psychology to perform a variety of research/evaluations on complex training systems and technologies. Prior to my work with the STRIKE Lab, I received a Masters in Psychology, Human Factors and Applied Cognition from George Mason University in May of 2023. My background at GMU included research focuses in human-machine teaming, human performance, cybersecurity, AI, AR/HMD, and usability. Prior to GMU, I worked in a variety of research experiences at the University of Arizona to learn a mix of more traditional psychological domains. These domains included clinical neuropsychology, social psychology, psychophysiology, spatial cognition and human memory, all of which have serviced my professional development and advancement in many ways.
