Grid Simulation Consultant

Current

Worked with GIS, relational, and graph databases to design and document an ETL process to convert utility GIS data into a real, working distribution system model in OpenDSS. Developed methods and strategies to synthesize missing and incorrect data to tackle the "GIGO" problem and create a more accurate model.Performed extensive troubleshooting and validation of DSS files, graph and relational data, and the underlying model. Leveraged AI tools to rapidly generate dozens of one-off scripts for individual testing and repairs of the graph database. Collaborated with PNNL to design and implement tools for static and dynamic hosting capacity analysis, impact analysis for PV and EV projects, and grid upgrade costing analysis. Worked with front end developers to ensure the right useful data is provided to the user, while troubleshooting issues that arose with the backend.Developed a method to use existing synthetic building load databases and real estate data to provide highly representative, granular load data even in the absence of AMI, allowing for Dynamic Hosting Capacity Analysis up to 8760 hours of the year.

Freelance Videographer

Portland, Oregon, United States

Developed a series of videos and live streamed events to support the PSU Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. Wrote, directed, filmed and edited a series of videos for the Power Lab that were designed to replicate the hands on lab experience during the COVID-19 quarantine. My responsibilities included planning, organization, management of graphics designers and other personnel, providing instruction to participants to self-record videos, gathering audio, and performing all video editing tasks. The 2021 graduation was similar in structure to 2020, but was performed live; my responsibilities grew to include coordination with the Office of Information Technology to provide live streaming services, development of a live event script and itinerary, and real-time direction of speakers. All videos were developed under an extremely tight timeline, with little access to equipment or locations and no access to personnel due to quarantine.
