Working as part of the ops maintenance team, supported the hook up and commissioning phase of the ENGIE Cygnus offshore gas field development, through start up and into current steady state operations.Roles include AEP Authorised Electrical Person 240V, PA Performing Authority and AO Area Operator permit duties on a paper system.Duties include;Familiarity gained on a Yokogawa ICSS (DCS/safety/fire and gas) systemSupporting the Control of Work process in accordance with company procedures. Reviewing issued maintenance work orders and ensuring all required preparations are fully undertaken before commencement of workSupporting installation and commissioning of new equipment as required. From June 2014 to May 2016, I was based on Apache’s Forties Alpha platform and gained an SVQ Level 3 in Process Engineering Maintenance (Instrument and Control). Throughout this time, I gained experience and knowledge in the following areas;-Fire & gas detection systems – routine maintenance and remedial work to IR flame detectors, smoke detector loops, gas detection, working alongside vendors to determine causes of spurious trips-ESD systems – proficient in the use of cause & effects drawings, application and control of overrides -Distributed control systems – familiar with DeltaV/SIS control system, removing/replacing cards, interrogating the system and trends to determine the root cause of plant upsets-Valve assemblies – replacing and setting up Eckardt SRD960 and Fisher DVC6200 positioners on control valves, actuator removal and replacement, replacing Topworx solenoid/limit switch assemblies-Wellhead control panel hydraulic pressure units – remedial works including replacing solenoid valves, PSVs, NRVs in panels-Pressure, flow, level and temperature measurement systems – familiar with the various methods of measurement, routine calibration checks and replacement of transmitters-Proficient in the use of SAP maintenance management system and ISSOW permit to work system-Carrying out all jobs with health and safety policies the main focus at all timesI have been involved with assisting the commissioning team on the Forties Alpha Satellite Platform (FASP) when required. I have also carried out remedial work to certain systems as more wells come online and issues are found.

During my time in the Upstream Oil and Gas Industry Technician Training Scheme by Opito, I initially completed 21 months training at Edinburgh College in Dalkeith. In my time based there, I obtained an HNC in Instrument and Control Engineering (grade A), an SVQ Level 2 in Performing Engineering Operations and an NC in Engineering Systems. These courses provided me with a broad range of engineering skills as well as training focused directly on instrument and control systems, both in a classroom and workshop based environment.
