Community Health Services provide care to our patients supporting them in their home environments and in a clinical setting, often at times when they need it most – after leaving hospital or when they are unable to get to the surgery. Our Community Teams work closely with the acute hospitals, General Practice, Social Care, Macmillan and Hospice at Home, care agencies, and LOROS as well as many other services, to give our patients the best care we can.At the heart of these crucial services is SPA – the single point of access service which connects patients with clinical team, and clinicians with each other. Open 24/7, every day of the year, this service provides a vital link to make sure patients get the care they need, when they need it most.Having started as a Service Coordinator in February 2017, in November 2018 I was responsible for the training of all new staff entering SPA, as well as developing processes and and procedures to ensure the service remained up to date, relevant and capable of providing the best patient experience possible. In addition to this, I was responsible for running the service as Duty Manager as part of a shift pattern, ensuring the smooth operation of the service and providing support to the staff.

Responsible for assisting in the day-to-day running of a busy Sizzling pub with a high turnover in both food and wet sales. This included: -- The management of staff, stock, cashflow and maintenance issues to ensure that the customer experience is exceptional and the company policies and standards are met or exceeded. -- Maintaining all paperwork and due dilligence records and M&B's seperate IT systems for cash management, stock management, HR management and staff management. Courses undertaken include Level 3 Food Hygiene and Level 3 Fire, Health & Safety.

ClearSky Pub Solutions is a specific part of this business which focuses solely on licenced outlets - i.e. pubs. By offering services tailored to the specific needs of the licenced trade, delivered by individuals who have spent their careers developing a knowledge of the "pub game", ClearSky Pub Solutions can provide accurate and meaningful information and support that is specific to pubs and landlords.My role within ClearSky Pub Solutions is to provide the stock taking service. This means providing accurate and timely information to support both the client and the accountancy data, plus explaining the results to the client to aid them in the development of the business - be it pointing out where they may be losing stock (or having it stolen), assisting them in increasing their profitability or aiding them with the trends that are spreading across the business.

In October 2013 I formed my own business and took over the Gatehouse in Nottingham. This site has previously done well, but had suffered in recent years from a lack of continuity and passion from a succession of managers. Situated just outside the city centre on several major routes, my intention was to get this pub back on track through a combination of food, good entertainment and live sports.

My role within a medium-sized pub management company was split between developing and driving sales at each site and the auditing of each site. This included developing new promotions and initiatives to increase footfall and turnover, ensuring proper stock management was maintained and enforcing manager accountability through auditing and control procedures. This role included a high level of interaction and trust between myself and the managers, and I was responsible for their training on company procedures. I was instrumental in taking on and letting go of sites across a wide geographical area, and also in the development of the head office administration.

In this medium-sized pub holding company, I was responsible for the auditing of around twenty public houses. This included ensuring the accountability of the pub managers in terms of stock and finances, enforcing the company’s procedures and advising the managers on a wide range of issues, such as stock management and business development. This role included a high level of interaction and trust between myself and the managers, and I was responsible for their training on company procedures. I was instrumental in taking on and letting go of sites across a wide geographical area, and also in the development of the head office administration.

I managed the Fox for a holding company, and as such was responsible for maintaining and building the trade within limited financial constraints. I was responsible for all aspects of the pub’s management and operations, including the development and provision of a food offering. As well as all of legal obligations, customer service requirements and stock control, I was also responsible for following company procedures, including the reporting of figures.

My role at the Marquis was to take control of the day-to-day running of the pub, including the daily cash flow, stock control and staffing. I worked closely with the business owner to drive forward new ideas, improve staff motivation and professionalism and introduce new product offerings. We aimed at the Marquis to give the customer something not available in other pubs, by delivering a larger selection of quality products, presented by smart, polite staff. Communication was a key element of my role, dealing not only with staff and customers, but also suppliers, the brewery and local businesses. A high level of “problem solving” was required to meet the many challenges which arose in this relatively young business.
