I’ve been a techie at heart since my parents bought me my first computer – a Commodore 64 for those of you old enough to remember. While I still love technology, my passion shifted to growing businesses, whether through technology, team building, or process improvement.I started an IT consulting business while I was in college. Our mission was to provide smaller companies with the IT resources of larger organizations with substantial IT departments. We worked with companies in various vertical markets, such as health care, non-profits, and oil & gas field services. When taking on a new client, my team would sometimes find a mess – IT in such bad shape it impacted daily operations. Alternatively, we dropped into an organization primed for rapid growth. I found working with both high growth and “fixer-upper” clients equally rewarding.Next, I took an opportunity to devote myself as full-time CTO of one of our healthcare clients - a clinical reference lab - preparing for growth under new ownership. After years of under-investment in the IT infrastructure, I invested in a small team and focused on projects to improve customer service, increase productivity, and implement new lines of business.I assumed the CEO role under challenging circumstances, the largest of which was the pandemic. Demand for COVID testing outstripped supply at the time; our team dealt with supply chain issues and staffing problems to grow revenue triple digits during my tenure.
