I am currently a Detective for the Portland Police Bureau, and have been employed as a sworn police officer for over twenty five (25) years. I have a Bachelor of Science in Natural Sciences from Western Oregon State College. I am presently assigned to the Homicide Unit in the Detectives Division. I am assigned to the Crisis Negotiation Team as a trained Crisis Negotiator.I worked in the Narcotics and Organized Crime (NOC) Unit for fifteen years. While in that capacity, I was assigned to the Regional Organized Crime Narcotics Task Force (ROCN) as a Task Force Agent (TFA). My previous assignment included, but was not limited to, investigations of violations of the Oregon Uniform Controlled Substances Act and violations of the Comprehensive Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Act of 1970, Title 21, United States Code (USC).My formal law enforcement training includes a Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced Certificate from the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) as a certified Police Officer in the State of Oregon.During my employment with the Portland Police Bureau, I have received over three thousand seven hundred (3,700) hours of training in areas associated to law enforcement. I have received specific training in the area of narcotics investigations, narcotics identification, handling and packaging of evidence, testing of controlled substances, and investigations involving clandestine laboratories. I have received training in encryption, cryptocurrency, and the 'Darknet' and have completed investigations regarding the distribution of narcotics related to the 'Darknet.'
