Experience includes: - Leading the Financial Reporting team responsible for the preparation of the Financial Statements included in the Annual Report. - Reporting requirements include reporting to Treasury via SIMS and liaising with Treasury counterparts; - Preparing internal management reporting to the Executive analysing actual against budget and other non financial indicators; - State budget process, including aiding in the preparation of submissions and estimates hearings - Managing the Department’s relationship with the Office of the Auditor General and other auditing firms engaged to aid in the preparation of disclosure items including the actuarial valuation of the Department’s annual and long-service leave provisions; - Providing the Department’s responses to Treasury circulars regarding accounting pronouncements published by the AASB; - Managing the wider finance functions, including accounts payable and receivable, FBT and the BAS, fixed assets and the administration of the Department’s credit cards.

• Provide technical accounting advice to clients on various matters that pertain to their business. This requires a very sound knowledge and understanding of Australian and International Financial Reporting Standards.• Engagements included:o Provided accounting advice pertaining to the recognition of a non-operating JV partner’s revenue entitlement in the oil and gas sector. This covered both current AASBs, industry practice and the new revenue standard (AASB 15)o Provided advice to the WA Department of Treasury concerning the annual reporting regime as outlined in the Treasurer’s Instructions. This included identifying opportunities for streamlining and efficiencies.o Provided advice to the WA Department of Education Services regarding the accounting treatment for its Low Interest Loan Scheme.o Provided accounting advice pertaining to the recognition of a non-operating JV partner’s revenue entitlement in the oil and gas sector. o Supported a client on its change of functional currency. This entailed building a comprehensive model in excel translating the company’s entire trial balance on a line-by-line and where applicable, historical transaction-by-transaction basis.by-transaction basis.

• Led the team preparing the annual and quarterly reports that are used to brief the Minister for Energy on the performance of the State owned electricity Corporations; • The reports prepared by the corporations themselves were scrutinised and analysed by gathering additional information from, and working with staff to provide an independent and impartial view of the performance. The advice is designed to provide the Government with a shareholder’s view of the performance of its investment;• Prepare and review responses to Ministerials and Parliamentary briefing notes across a range of topics to enable the Minister to meet his obligations under the Act;• Providing advice to the Minister on the electricity corporation's State Budget Forecast and Mid-Year Reviews submissions for endorsement by the ERC;• Researching and maintaining current knowledge of the accounting requirements applicable to the corporations and the effect on their performance; • Detailed analysis of the implicit valuation of the utilities using economic profit modelling;• Researching the performance of similar entities both within Australia and internationally to provide a benchmark for performance analysis;

• Capital management and budgeting. This includes planning and forecasting future requirements and modelling the impacts of current and expected regulations. • The Recovery and Resolution Plan for the firm (“Living will”). This project required extensive networking and collaboration with stakeholders from all levels across the organisation from Board members to front and back office staff;• Worked with senior management in developing risk management frameworks which include defining the risk appetite and associated key performance indicators and ensuring appropriate Governance was in place through policies and processes owned and controlled through senior management committees;• Alternate to the Head of Capital Management and Regulatory Reporting for the presentation of the monthly packs to the Capital Management Committee (members include the CEO, CFO, CRO and heads of trading desks);• Responsible for preparing the packs above which detailed the firm’s financial, capital and risk management position as defined by the risk management framework;• Point of contact for the business for new product and structured trade advice. The proposals were discussed and understood ensuring the most appropriate and efficient regulatory and accounting treatment is applied;

• Managing the team performing weekly, monthly and quarterly FSA reporting requirements under the both the Basel I and Basel II reporting regimes;• Key involvement in the capital budgeting process, gathering plans and forecasts from the front office and preparing capital budgets for both Basel I and Basel II;• Studying and understanding IFRS accounting requirements and giving appropriate advice to the business.
