I'm a researcher and teacher focused on the ideas, images, and practices that shape development and transform relations, especially within the context of the environment and tourism.Following years of working and studying in the Middle East and South Africa, I completed my doctorate at the University of Hong Kong in 2021 and then moved to Europe, where I took up a postdoctoral fellowship in Social and Cultural Anthropology at KU Leuven before joining the Department of Culture Studies at Tilburg University. Using methods grounded in discourse analysis, visual studies, and ethnography, I've conducted field research in Myanmar (Burma) and the Arabian Gulf. My current project investigates how concepts of nature (or, the more-than-human environment) are transformed through social media and tourism.
