Located in Sydney Australia, Sean Park is a Senior Malware Scientist at FireEye Labs, responsible for researching on global dynamic threat intelligence and delivering incident response service to FireEye clients in the APAC region. Sean’s primary focus is on malware threat identification, attack campaign scoping, threat containment and remediation strategy development, and digital forensic analysis.

As part of a cyber threat management team, Sean has dedicated his time in strategic malware detection/prevention for banking and financial services reducing substantial portion of non lending loss. Primary responsibilities include malware threat identification through reverse engineering, malware-secure banking system design and development, malware analysis automation, threat landscaping, trend analysis, and consulting.One of the major achievements was the creation of a malware-infected customer detection system embedded within banking infrastructure, which allowed accurate identification of customers infected with financial malware preventing substantial amount of fraudulent transactions.Sean has also designed and developed a scalable automatic banking malware triage system - Malware Expert - with file system VXE(Virtual Execution Engine) and behavioral context analysis capability, which was presented at Cybercrime Trustworthy Computing 2012.

As a lead kernel driver architect and developer, Sean has designed and implemented several production builds of security kernel driver suite for multiple products. Major features designed by Sean include the following.- Real-time system (file/registry/process) event generation/blocking in kernel level- Direct (file/registry/process) system access interface for user app- Rootkit (file/registry/process rootkits) detection/removal- Code injection detection- Delete malicious files on rebootSean also played a key role in modern threat analysis and threat modeling in several key areas including general viruses, adware/spyware, remote code injection, user level and kernel level rootkits, and malware reversing.

Primary responsibilities include analysis of various viruses and techniques including, Trojan Backdoor, Internet connection-hijacking Trojans, Remote code injection, Rootkits and Network Exploit detection.
