I taught 24 classes a week, consisting of small classes (up to four students) as well as larger classes (of twenty-five). I taught a range of topics within General English, Business English as well as Cultural Awareness classes. I have a great deal of experience teaching a wide range of levels from A1 to C2 across a range of ages. On top of this, I performed oral tests to assess student levels, as well as conducting bespoke study plans for individual students.

I am a freelance writer and photographer through the company Wildwood & Shore. I focus on food, people and place and how each influences the other. Food is more than what we eat; it’s about landscape, nature, seasons, about friends and family, the outdoors, the home and kitchen. At Wildwood & Shore, I have worked in the US, UK and Australia on photography projects, written projects and recipe development. I am currently based in Beijing, China – researching culture and cuisine in the East.

In 2012 I set up Four, a collective focused on exploring food and exciting producers within the UK. Our aim with each project was to simplify food, remove the ‘cheffy’ pretentiousness, and make food more accessible and fun. We wanted to embrace food as something everyone should love, wherever they are. I worked closely with a photographer, illustrator and designer and we combined our skills to create beautiful work for a wide range of audiences.

Katt Frank Illustration was a start-up business focused on creating illustrated homeware and stationery. I came on board to aid Katt Frank in researching the market and customer trends and build the business from the ground up. Over the course of 12 months, the demand for Katt Frank products grew and grew. Katt Frank Illustration has now worked with a huge client base in the US, UK and Japan.

I took this restaurant over in 2010. Over the years, I developed my knowledge of food, wine, spirits, the restaurant scene and food trends. I spent 50% of my time on ‘admin’ – dealing with finances, stocks, margins, wages and managing staff, corresponding with suppliers and producers and researching new products and places. I spent the other 50% front of house – talking to customers, being the face of the business, ensuring opinions are heard and that people feel comfortable and known. Working in a restaurant forced me to manage pressure and stress with new deadlines every minute of the day. I had to be able to multitask beyond the norm and work without loosing my head. I managed a team of about 25 and have to be collect and calm at all times. I ensured there were no problems with any of the staff; for me, communication across the board is key to the successful running of any business. Show less

I worked with a fantastic designer combining his graphic skills with my copywriting. We worked on various projects, the first was a creative piece celebrating the pasty. The second was a project called 26 Flavours of Cornwall, which was a celebration of Cornish produce. The projects were exhibited at key locations across the county and gave us the opportunity to work alongside established writers and graphic designers.

I worked with John Yorke, Controller of BBC Drama, on developing a new arm of the BBC called the 'online drama'. We examined contemporary viewer trends - how they watch TV, on what devices, what time of day and either live or on-demand, and from there John Yorke asked my team to 'test the water' with a small budget online drama.

I worked with Paul Dodgson, a BBC Radio 4 producer, aiding a team of sketch writers for a comedy show: Off the Rails. I edited sketches, gave feedback as well as researched demographics and radio slot times to become familiar with the audience.

I worked for this magazine, aiding them in compiling their annual magazine for the Cornwall region. It required a sharp editorial eye, an ability to work to strict deadlines, manage workloads and possess exceptional communicational skills.I also had to have solid research skills when interviewing business owners/managers and ensuring accuracy of facts.
