As the CEO of Cash Crusaders Franchising, I managed 240 outlets, including 75 company-owned stores with a staff complement of over 1000 employees. I know only too well how demanding and challenging business can be. My 15 years as CEO taught me valuable lessons about increasing profits and creating shareholder value, taking the company to over R2 billion in annual turnover. Starting in 2007, I had to pivot in 2008 to see through the financial crisis and navigated through 3 recessions, including COVID and the July riots. I understand that people don't work for a company; they work for their CV within a company. If you can't retain talent for more than three years, you are farming backward, and it will show in the profits. I use visionary storytelling to get people to do the hard things others wouldn't dream of. My philosophy is to ensure the rate of change inside my company is greater than the rate of change outside my company by doing hard things.
