As the head of finance for the Space Systems Business Unit of Aerojet Rocketdyne, I have responsibility for all financial support to the Space Systems Business Unit, an $130M business unit with primary operations in Redmond, WA as well as Los Angeles, CA, and wholly owned subsidiaries in New Jersey (ARDE, Inc) and Northern Ireland, UK (European Space Propulsion Ltd.). As the controller for ARDE, an independently operated subsidiary of Aerojet Rocketdyne, I provided full financial responsibility, including all aspects of accounting, financial planning, and business management, for the company as well as its subsidiary, ARDE-Barinco. •Monthly closing process for two general ledgers including: consolidation with corporate entities, account reconciliations, and corporate reporting•Evaluation and implementation of all financial controls for the organization including: SOX GAP assessment and testing, segregation of duties review, physical and excess and obsolete inventory reviews, program controls including the Estimate at Complete process, and other management reviews and disclosures •Focal for internal, government, and customer audits, as well as submittal of the annual incurred cost claim for the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) and all other interface between government agencies and the company•Cash management including ownership of Treasury, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable functions, driving ARDE to its first cash positive year under corporate ownership •Ensure consistency of accounting and business practices with corporate and government standards•Definition and management of the Annual Operating Plan in coordination with the General Manager to achieve financial targets, including monthly forecasting and variance analysis•Long-range strategic planning, including development of a formal five year plan, as well as partnering with the GM to establish a strategic course consistent with the corporate vision •Establishment of pricing strategies, proposal evaluation, and supporting customer negotiations•Manage a small team of accountants Accomplishments:Implemented robust budgeting and forecasting while partnering with the GM to drive continuous improvement and data driven decisions. As the division-level FP&A lead for Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne (PWR), I primarily supported United Technologies’ divestiture of Rocketdyne since September 2011.
