I joined ConocoPhillips as a Graduate Engineer directly from university. Initially working in the Subsea Operations Department where I provided support to the various diving operations and subsea projects ongoing at the time. Within a year I had completed the company’s global project development training programme ‘Summit’ in Houston and joined the Jasmine Development Project in London as a project engineer for the Transportation and Installation team. Over the next eighteen months I provided engineering support for the load-out, transportation and installation of two jackets, three topsides and two bridges. I was selected as one of a small number of summer interns with ConocoPhillips in the UK; as a result of which I was offered a full-time position.

Geoje, Gyeongsangnam-Do, Korea

I was fortunate enough to be among the first students to take part in an exciting three month program in the world’s second largest shipyard with Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea. I worked as part of their cruise ship development group where I used NAPA to investigate damage stability. The experience offered by the programme in the Geoje Island Shipyard is unrivalled, demonstrating how academic knowledge can be applied to such a diverse and fascinating industry.
