About Sean A. Thom

I am a disruptive educator who refuses to accept the status quo and works to help people understand their power to create change. I do this through public speaking, professional development for educators and leaders, programs in schools and communities, and listening.In the last 14 years of my educational career I have (in no order): obtained my graduate degree, founded an educational nonprofit, been granted a patent for a student-centered teacher feedback system, created edtech startup, ran for Congress, and been blessed to marry my wonderful wife and have two beautiful kids. I currently serve as a staff representative for CWA Local 1040 and as the Executive Director for an educational nonprofit called Our Future First.     We started Our Future First when the life of my former student, Maurice Lewis, was taken due to senseless gun violence in our community. We decided that we wanted to create Reese's House, a whole-child youth center focused on the academic, physical, social, emotional, and mental well-being of kids with a strong emphasis on innovation and entrepreneurship. We are supporting our mission by bringing innovative, affordable, and relevant professional development, programs, and help to schools! Our profits from our work in schools will be used to help us build our community and hopefully many more.
