Holistic Wellbeing Coach & Podcaster
From Norfolk to Sussex in 2015, there was a gradual shift in direction.Personal Training took on a more holistic approach, quite literally!Initially, I joined the seafront Gym Group in Brighton. There, I introduced kettlebell sessions, beachside circuit training, and even conducted their first Yoga class, amidst the clanging dumbbells. It was during this period that I also made the decision to launch the Everyday Fitness & Wellbeing Podcast. https://anchor.fm/SeanBeFitTransitioning from the gym environment, I continued to balance childcare responsibilities with an enlightening education in real food, sustainability, and the intricacies of starting a business. This was possible by becoming a part of the team at Harriet's of Hove. I joined them from their prelaunch phase, all the way through challenging trading times. My role within this small independent business not only allowed me to retrain as a Pilates teacher but also gave me the opportunity to craft my own holistic blend of Yoga, Pilates, and Kettlebell training. However, as among other challenges, the Pandemic flipped the script...After a hiatus of 20 years, I found myself back within the NHS.Fast forwarding to the present day, I'm still with the Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust, albeit in a part-time capacity. This arrangement has provided me with the space to relaunch the Everyday Fitness & Wellbeing Podcast and dedicate time to volunteering with the Lifelines charity, based in Brighton
Owner, Personal Trainer & Class Instructor
In Brief:I pioneered a successful fitness enterprise in Norwich, serving diverse corporate and private clients. I secured contracts with prestigious organizations while also offering tailored fitness classes. My personalised 1-1 training built a loyal client base, both in person and virtually. This success led me to orchestrate a coastal retreat to contribute to holistic wellness. The Full Monty:For more than 12 years, I established, developed, and managed a thriving fitness enterprise in the Norwich region.Key achievements during this tenure encompass:Securing enduring contracts with public sector and private entities, including South Norfolk Council, Norfolk County Council and Capita Plc. This entailed conducting onsite fitness sessions for their employees and members, fostering strong relationships within the staff and local community.Subcontracted by Nuffield Health, to provide Personal Training for their gym members.Independently provided a range of weekly classes, spanning general fitness, with specialised modalities such as Body Conditioning, Legs, Bums & Tums, Kettlebells, Kick-boxing, and Yoga. Plus tailored programs included 'Yoga for Seniors' & 'Thai-Bo for Adolescents',Leading intensive 'Boot Camp' sessions on weekends, for groups of individuals striving for rapid fitness while embracing the outdoors.Provided personalised 1-1 training to clients as a dedicated personal trainer with sessions customised to align with individual goals, preferences, and personalities, resulting in a loyal client base primarily cultivated through word-of-mouth referrals.Venturing into fitness modeling with Sandra Reynolds agency, featuring in FitPro Magazine, local Press (& on random fitness equipment).Delving into event coordination, I orchestrated a revitalizing coastal retreat in collaboration with a wedding venue, British Army PT instructor, and Outdoor Chef. This was followed by a Nordic Walking workshop held along the stunning Benacre coastline.
Assistant Manager
I served as the Deputy to the General Manager & Director, responsible for ensuring the seamless operation of a 1600-member health club. This role was highly involved, offering a steep learning curve in managing personnel, marketing strategies, customer retention efforts, as well as overseeing facility and logistics management. Additionally, I took on the responsibilities of a Studio Coordinator and I was active in conducting regular exercise classes.
Personal Trainer
This role signified my initial venture into Personal Training, serving as my introduction to the field within a gym and health club setting. Before this, I had held a position as a fitness instructor during my time studying in London. However, it was at the now defunct Fitness Exchange chain that I was afforded the opportunity to enhance my role even more. Through additional training in the fitness industry, I expanded my skill set and extended my contributions to encompass group exercise offerings – from 'Abs classes through to spinning sessions – and notably, introducing the Thai-Bo exercise class to the Norwich community.
Occupational Therapy Assistant
This role provided me with invaluable insights into supporting individuals in their later years, addressing a diverse spectrum of physical and cognitive needs, all while complementing my subsequent degree studies in Fitness and Health. Collaborating closely with a dedicated team of Occupational Therapists, I actively participated in patient registration and interviews. Guided by their expertise, I successfully conducted essential patient cognition and mobility assessments in various settings, including hospital wards, the OT department, and patients' homes. Subsequently, I generated comprehensive reports based on these assessments, thus contributing toward senior clinicians' decision-making processes.
