About Sean Bellefeuille

I am a DVM candidate (Class of 2024) at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. I have an interest in designing patient-specific and prosthetic devices for animals. I founded RIT BioPrint, a student club, and Med Dimensions, a business, while pursuing a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering at the Rochester Institute of Technology. These ventures have allowed me to explore 3D printing and the many ways this low-cost technology can benefit the veterinary community.

  • Med Dimensions
    Chief Medical Officer
Med Dimensions Feb 2024 - Present
    Rochester, New York, Us
I am part of the founding group of Med Dimensions, LLC. We create educational simulation models and patient-specific equipment to help improve pet health outcomes. Our educational models allow students, clinicians and other medical staff to practice procedures and gain competence. The next time they do a procedure on their patients, they will be better prepared and achieve a more successful outcome. We leverage AI to create patient-specific tools directly from medical images. These tools allow surgeons to visualize anatomy and practice in a safe and low-risk environment before having to perform surgery. This enhanced surgical preparation and guidance decreases surgical time and risk of complications, improving overall patient care.

I am part of the founding group of Med Dimensions, LLC. We 3D-print patient-specific preoperative models directly from scans. These preoperative models allow surgeons to visualize anatomy and practice in a safe and low-risk environment before having to perform surgery. This enhanced surgical preparation decreases surgical time and risk of complications, improving overall patient care.

BioPrint is an interdisciplinary club hosted by the Biomedical Engineering Department at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Projects will focus on the exploration of 3D technologies in the medical field. The club has two overarching goals. The first is to provide students with the opportunity to further their knowledge in disciplines such as 3D modeling and design, 3D printing, and material testing. The second is to promote collaboration and teamwork by fostering a venue for small teams focused on specific, yet multidisciplinary projects. We hope to attract students from different majors and with different skills to create a community with a common goal of advancing 3D technologies in the medical field.

  • Nanobio Device Laboratory
    Research Assistant
Nanobio Device Laboratory May 2017 - May 2018
My research in the NanoBio Devices Lab explored the migration of fibroblast cells. Using a non-cytotoxic nuclear dye I was able to create a new automated method to track cells. This method was achieved by creating scripts on Matlab and provides the user with different motility parameters such as the speed over time, the displacement, etc. This new analysis method is especially significant in wound healing migration as it can easily quantify the healing of a wound over time in a completely objective way., something that many of the current methods struggle to do. Responsibilities included:- Caring for and splitting cells- Creating protocols for experiments- General upkeep of a biology lab (ensuring a sterile environment, ordering and organizing of supplies, troubleshooting malfunctioning equipment)
