Adversity, motivation, and drive have been major components in my life for the past few years. I began college in the conventional way but became lost and overwhelmed with dealing with the challeneges of college and managing my studies and social life. I wasn't completely sure of what I wanted to do with my future until I was placed into my first accounting position at Michigan State University. From there, I realized what career path I wanted to follow, and from that point I enrolled back into college with a drive that I didn't realize I had. I graduated from Chicago State University with an overall GPA of 3.23 and a major GPA of 3.0. I was blessed even further by receiving a job offer in less than a month after graduation.I worked as a staff accountant for several years, advancing my skillset as much as possible until my transition to Self-Help. Under Self-Help, I have been promoted to a role that has allowed me to expand my knowledge. I've been able to utilize the resources the company has in order to grow professionally. I now participate as a Worker-Member Council within the organization.Outside of my career as an internal auditor, I'm also an artist. I enjoy drawing portraits with graphite and have begun to expand myself to other media such as ink, colored pencil, and pastels. I paint with oil, acrylic, and watercolor. My goal is to have my work presented in a gallery so that my name can be recognized in the art community. I continue to push myself to improve in style and substance. This is possibly a career path I may wish to pursue later in life or concurrently with accounting and auditing.
