After a failed merger between ClipperNet (former employer) and Rio, I migrated to Rio in late 2000. At this time, Rio was transitioning from a dialup-based ISP to a full facilities-based CLEC. I helped build out portions of Rio's network from the ground up and shortly thereafter assumed full responsibility of Rio's entire data network and began extensive.

Helped architect, maintain and enhance a fault-tolerant microwave WAN to provide high speed internet services in the late 90s before WiFi became prevalent. Every link was carefully engineered for optimal performance. I was proactively hands on in every aspect of the company including software development, network design and even climbing towers to install.
