In 2018 I co-founded Jackson & Sands Engineering, Inc. We offer a wide range of services within Civil Design, Construction Administration, and Structural Design. I am responsible for the day to day operations of the company.Prior to Jackson & Sands Engineering, I traveled the Northwest chasing road and bridge construction projects from Yellowstone National Park to the Arctic Circle of Alaska and many places in between. Between projects, I managed a highway design team, analyzed construction claims, and completed construction cost estimates.After 9 years of this, I decided it was time to move back to California and start my own company. I knew a major portion of this company would be the structural analysis of residential buildings and wanted to relearn the ins and outs of housing construction to better serve my clients, so I worked as a carpenter in the summer of 2018 and framed a couple of houses from the ground up.

Claims analysis- Disagreements between contractors and owning agencies often occur. A claims analysis can assist either party in pulling together cost data and contract language and requirements to assist in resolving the dispute. I have analyzed construction schedules, re-created schedules based on actual events, determined cost and time impacts due to changes, analyzed differing site conditions and if changes have occurred to the contract.Construction Survey and Staking- I have completed topographic surveys, set slope and reference stakes, and grade stakes for construction projects.Cost estimating- Accurate cost estimating plays a key role in determining whether a project will have sufficient funds or not by the time construction completes. I have pulled together hundreds of estimates to determine materials, labor and equipment cost of projects and changes to projects.Inspection- I have been the inspector of all levels on highway and bridge construction projects and projects of varying sizes and complexities. InspectionHighway design plan reviews- Plan reviews are instrumental in delivering a set of plans for construction. When I review a set of plans, I am looking for the feasibility of the plans. Are the plans constructable? Can a contractor reasonably bid the plans? Are there alternatives that can ultimately save money? Do the specifications match the plan requirements? Schedule development- Without a written schedule, many contracts run over budget and/or over time. Schedules allow you to see what activities are critical, when deliveries of critical materials/subcontractors need to be scheduled and delivered, and much more. I have completed schedules for 1 season and multi season projects and can help you in completing yours.Temporary traffic control plans- I have completed traffic control plans in accordance with the MUTCD and other local jurisdictions.

I spent 9 years administering over 100 million in highway construction projects across the northwest. My responsibilities included client and public relations, contractor oversight, SWPPP management, and staff development. My projects were in Yellowstone National Park, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska! During this period I also had rotations or temporary assignments in Construction Claims Analysis, Highway Design Team Management, Materials Testing, and Project Closeouts. Through these responsibilities, I became proficient in:-Putting together project schedules and analyzing schedules for accurate progression of work, resource requirements, and identifying critical activities to complete the project on-time.-Compiling cost data and production rates for cost estimating purposes.-Managing situations by keeping calm and collective and keeping the end objective in sight.-Contract interpretations, what does the contract require to be done and various available methods to achieve contract results.
