About Sean Brown

I lead global marketing and communications for 6 of McKinsey’s practices: Strategy & Corporate Finance, M&A, Transformation, Risk & Resilience, Private Equity/Principal Investors, and Implementation. I am responsible for efforts across publishing, communications, and events to engage and connect with senior executives on our thought leadership and client capabilities. My expertise and responsibilities include: thought leadership communications, marketing, and strategy (web, email, and print); client engagement and community building; and in-person and virtual client convenings. I most recently led the multi-channel campaigns for the best-selling books CEO Excellence, Valuation (7th edition) and Strategy Beyond the Hockey Stick; I led the launch of and host our “Inside the Strategy Room” podcast; our new CEO and CFO apps and portals, and several new global C-suite client events. I have also hosted and moderated nearly 300 online presentations with McKinsey thought leaders attended by thousands of executives annually; and I have also hosted and moderated over 90 events at MIT as career management chair of the MIT Sloan Boston Alumni Association. Prior to my current role, I was McKinsey’s director of global alumni relations, leading our alumni website, communications, career services, and events. Previously, I was director of alumni relations at MIT Sloan; founded and was CEO of a venture-backed marketing technology company; and was COO of a multi-channel marketer of custom luxury vehicles and accessories. Earlier in my career I was a McKinsey consultant focused on strategy and corporate finance. I have advised a wide range of clients - and shared perspectives with leading international media - on alumni and external relations. I have also served as a keynote speaker on communications and external/alumni relations at conferences in Singapore, Germany, England, Ireland, Canada, and across the US.On a personal level, I enjoy cycling, swimming, and staying current on new consumer technologies.
