Ever since I built my first computer back in 2016, I have fallen in love with the world of technology and coding. I didn't think coding was a possibility until I took my first Computer Science class in high school and almost immediately fell in love. I remember when I would code on Scratch using block coding and compete with my friends to see who could finish coding assignments the fastest. I believe that coding can truly change and inspire lives and that is why I decided to pursue an education in Computer Science at the University of Florida. Over the summer of 2021, I took part in a remote internship at Ontos LTD. as a Software Engineer/Developer that involved designing the UI of their website as well as co-creating a software tool for their website that would take in images and convert them to stitch art designs that people could print out and stitch themselves. This internship opened my eyes to the world of coding and exposed me to hundreds of new experiences as well as many new coding languages I had frankly never thought to utilize beforehand. During the three months of the internship, I also got to work directly with ThinkBase AI and learned as much as I could about knowledge graphs and how they can be incorporated into AI to look at current solutions being taken to mitigate the black box problem with many AI systems now. During my college career so far, I have taken several Computer Science courses that have really sparked my interest and have advanced my skills as a coder. Some of these classes include: Data structures and algorithms as well as Discrete structures and applications. I also joined the club Gator Gladiators and was elected as the software lead. I was tasked with leading a team to code a completely autonomous robot that would battle other sumo robots in an attempt to push them off a stage. This really cultivated my confidence in leading others as well as my own coding ability as I began using new programs like ROS and Gazebo and becoming more familiar with running simulations for the robot within these programs.
