As a Local News Desk Intern for The Oklahoman, I've been given the rare opportunity to tackle every beat across the large Metro daily, sticking most to city-related issues discussed at council meetings, with many opportunities for P1 and cover stories right off the bat.

Working stringing shifts reporting high school sports scores alongside covering preps and MSU-related material.

Not only did I report on university sports administration topics, but I filled in as a beat reporter at the same time, covering the MSU women's soccer team, an NCAA Tournament team, writing gamers and in-depth, feature stories on some of the nation's top athletes in the sport. I continued my beat with men's basketball and filled in on some men's soccer.

Followed the Spartans from day one until their loss in the Sweet Sixteen in Houston, attending every home game, road trip, media practice and meeting open to reporters. I wrote on extremely tight deadlines for just about every game, sometimes in under a 15-minute time block. Wrote constant feature stories throughout the week to go along with the deadline.

Covered both ASMSU and RHA on issues regarding diversity, religion, spending, events, free speech and housing. I analyzed ASMSU's $1.3 million budget of student money, printing stories showing MSU's 45,000 students where their money was being spent and why.

As an intern for the Town Crier, I reported on every beat imaginable in a small town. I took all my own photos, including going through the entire editing process. I learned to design pages, write births and obituaries, take advertising inquiries and completely run an office while constantly running out onto assignment. This internship was the epitome of.

Starting as a free lancer being available and versatile turned into being hired on as an intern, writing daily on both news and sports until I was promoted to a full-time Graduate Affairs position, which allowed me to voice the opinions and events for the 3,500 graduate students at Michigan State University.

As an employee in the meat department at Farmer Jack, I cut and wrapped product for eight-hour shifts up to 40 hours a week, working in a union and alongside an adult workforce, furthering not only my knowledge in a handy trade but my ability to relate and talk to those hard-working, full-time, blue-collar employees, many who support their family through.

For a summer job, I worked in the sales realm for American Eagle Outfitters, competing with other employees to sell the most clothing during each shift. After establishing myself as one of the top-sellers and most reliable workers, I was trained and became a cashier, learning to be even more proficient with sales, financial numbers and people skills with.

Starting at a minimum-wage position of bagging and tracking down shopping carts, I was promoted to a stocking position in just under three weeks on the job. The following year, I was promoted again to a dairy department leader, working the early shifts starting at 6 a.m. and stocking as much product as possible after unloading trucks and helping to take.

For UD-Jesuit, I painted, cleaned and repaired property across the school for two summers.
