Led team to perform reliability assessments of various e-cigarette components including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, mechanical properties of silicone parts, part color, coatings adhesion, air flow, and PCB board copper weight as per standards. Reverse engineered and independently screen printed a thick film nichrome heating element in atomizer to address supply chain reliability as part of manufacturer vetting. Managed client relationship and ensured rapid communication of pertinent results.Provided engineering support for transmission line asset strategy team at large electric utility. Worked with SMEs and design engineers to perform inspection audits. Led team to consolidate disparate asset records for executive level decision making. Supported development and implementation of atmospheric corrosion models.

Developed and implemented failure analysis protocols for consumer electronics displays, electrical connectors/power adapters, IR and visual optics (safety assessments), LEDs, solder, batteries, solar cells, vaporizers, hard disk drives, ferrite rotors, medical stents, and others. Notably with dead pixel and line failures in LCD/ OLED displays, display and device glass fractography, aesthetic and conductive coatings, void/feature uniformity analysis, electrical connectors, O-rings, polymer and thin film delamination and fracture. At the Joint Center for Artificial Photosynthesis I manage high-throughput data acquisition and analysis of X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) data gathered at the Advanced Light Source. The goal is to discover new catalytic materials for the conversion of carbon dioxide to liquid fuels with the help of sunlight: hence artificial photosynthesis. Helped discover a new transition metal oxynitride with large band gap tuning of about 2 eV versus nitrogen content. Developed algorithms for X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy data analysis. Spear-headed feasibility study of rapid gaseous product measurement of CO2 reduction catalysts using wavelength modulation spectroscopy.

Established partnership with Korean inventor of patented single-crystal wire and interconnect technology. Prototyped with prospective high fidelity head-phone cable seller. Product successfully piloted on seller website.

I focused on the development of algorithms for data reduction and mining from materials data like X-ray diffraction.

As a UMD Materials Science graduate student I published my research findings on novel air-conditioners (thermoelastic), rare-earth free permanent magnets, and novel types of random access memory (multiferroics). In addition to scientific research, writing, and presentations I used my skills in materials characterization and processing like calorimetry, scanning probe microscopy, thin film deposition, furnaces, wave-length dispersive spectroscopy, x-ray diffraction, and magnetometry.Designed and fabricated a novel multiferroic as proof-of-principle for future memory devices and sensors. Discovered a new superconducting material made of Fe-B using the combinatorial sputtering method.Measured latent heat for a solid state coolant (NiTi) showing that the coefficient of performance of elastocaloric cooling is similar to vapor compression. Performance of a 1kW prototype was evaluated in an environmental control test room.Pioneered new experimental methodology for discovering magnetic materials using the thin film combinatorial method and showed reproducibility of experiments between Maryland and Germany.Renovated, managed, & maintained lab space including magnetometers, optical microscopy, and 4 sputtering chambers. Mentored 5 undergraduates for independent work with sputtering equipment and magnetic characterization.
