Software EngineerAllscripts Jan 2017 - Jan 2021Chicago, Il, UsDesign and develop front-end web applications for the FollowMyHealth healthcare patient portal used by millions of patients, doctors, and hospital administrators. My main responsibility is to expand the functionality of the FollowMyHealth Dashboard, a web app platform used by healthcare providers and hospital administrators to configure the patient portal experience for their patients and perform other administrative functions. Since 2017, I have worked on an initiative to upgrade the existing Dashboard application, developed entirely in Silverlight, to the AngularJS platform. During this process I have become a subject matter expert for the Dashboard, creating entirely new functional sections of the product. One recent example of this was developing an internal organization management screen that allows for the creation and modification of client organizations. For this feature, I was directly involved in every aspect of development from front-end page design to back-end storage integrations. As a full-stack developer that specializes in front-end development, I have worked extensively in the AngularJS framework, but also have experience working in older sections of the code base that were implemented in KnockoutJs. I also regularly contribute along the entire code stack, including MVC API development, .NET and .NET Core server-side applications, and database storage integrations with Microsoft Azure and SQL. -
Associate Software EngineerAllscripts 2015 - Jan 2017Chicago, Il, UsWorked as a full-stack developer on multiple aspects of the FollowMyHealth patient healthcare portal. My primary responsibilities were to maintain and enhance existing functionality throughout the web application. Some of the projects I worked on included implementing a new billing vendor integration, assisting with the development of a telehealth email workflow, face-lifting the UI for the patient’s appointment manager, and delivering a complete rewrite of the sign-in application (uplifted from Knockout.Js to AngularJs).I was able to work on three different development teams, allowing me to gain experience from many different senior developers. I was also able to work in many different sections of the product code-base allowing me to gain a greater understanding of the solution as a whole. As a full-stack developer I worked with many different technologies: back-end technologies such as: C#, the .NET framework, SQL, and Microsoft Azure; and front-end technologies such as: Knockout.JS, AngularJs, HTML, Less, and Silverlight. -
Phd Graduate Research AssistantMississippi State University Aug 2013 - May 2014Mississippi State, Ms, UsInitiated research into interactive visualization techniques for multivariate data with low physical dimensionality. Developed an application of one-dimensional arc graphs for displaying American football play data. Data collection required the creation of an html parser to procedurally aggregate NFL game and play data over 10+ seasons, a bounded natural language text parser to read play descriptions and determine the play type, and scripts to generate structured json objects. The visualization program utilizes the D3 JavaScript library to present the data on an interactive webpage. Presented research at the IEEE VIS 2013 Conference Sports Data Workshop. Masters Graduate Research AssistantMississippi State University May 2011 - Aug 2013Mississippi State, Ms, UsWorked on a NASA ESMD sponsored project to determine the feasibility of applying FPGA partial reconfiguration (PR) techniques for space program use. Thesis topics included determining the size, power, and time benefits and costs of using PR inside voice communications systems and developing a design tools flow using Xilinx COTS software to produce a test-bench for dynamic PR system designs. The project required the development of methods for preparing the test program for partial reconfiguration. These methods included designing and deciding among multiple module port abstraction implementations to balance design size minimization and code complexity. Nsf Gk12 FellowMississippi State University May 2012 - May 2013Mississippi State, Ms, UsIn addition to continuing work on Thesis research, was selected to participate in the NSF GK12 Outreach program to stimulate interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) among Middle and High School students. Worked as an assistant High School Geometry teacher responsible for co-teaching daily lectures and creating, writing, and leading bi-monthly hands-on exercises. Exercises were designed to be relevant to lecture topics with ties to current graduate research, providing a real-world application example. -
