Led the project to establish a Shared Services Centre for Vedanta's Zinc International operations at VZI HQ in Johannesburg, South Africa.

• Led a group wide Commercial Process Mapping & Benchmarking project designed to carry out a diagnostic of Procurement, Logistics & Inventory management operations across 3 sites and to propose a redesign to significantly enhance the group supply chain performance• Managed the Site Commercial team responsible for: Purchasing, Contract Management, Inventory Management, Logistics (inbound & outbound) and Warehousing covering an annual spend of approx. €70M across 3 major groups;o Spare parts – mobile underground equipment & chemical processing equipment etco Materials – cement, GGBS, explosives, acids, reagents & other chemicals etco Services – Security, Mechanical & Electrical contractors, Electricity supply, Trucking (site to Port), Shipping (Port to customer destination) etc• Maintained health, safety and environmental standards in compliance with the systems adopted on site• Monitored and produced KPI’s on a monthly basis• Development of the Commercial team staff (5 in Purchasing, 1 Inventory controller, 6 in stores)• Achievements (some examples to date):o Led the Electricity tender process annually utilising a cost model developed from research to facilitate validation of supplier proposals (yielded savings of >€250k/yr)o Developed a Procurement Strategy across all segments (one size does NOT fit all) leading to index based contracts, competitive offers etc; for spares, consumables & serviceso Implemented an Inventory Strategy to enhance stock accuracy and optimisation of key parameters such as ROP & ROQ

Managed several projects to improve our Supply Chain performance in EMEA (Distribution Centre location decision analysis/site selection, Warehouse Design & Optimisation, Total Supply Chain Cost Modelling and ROI for strategic choices).Developed a Cost Plus model to facilitate contract negotiations with 3rd Party Logistics partners for Distribution Centre Operations (Inbound, Storage, Picking, Staging, Outbound etc).Managed the relocation of 350 personnel to new offices in Ireland. This included finding alternatives and negotiating with landlords on rental details. Produced the initial draft design of the internal fitout and then selected an architect to manage the selected civil, mechanical & electrical contractors.Managed the site selection and fitout of a CTO (configure to order) facility in the UK.

Managed a key project to analyse and recommend the optimum location for an APC factory in Eastern Europe.Development of a Total Supply Chain Cost Model. Carried out detailed Product Cost Analysis comparing Material, Labour & Overhead Costs plus Logistics Costs for all factory locations (USA, Ireland, India, China, Philippines).Managed NPI Mfg Eng teams to successfully introduce or transfer many UPS products into Ireland and/or Asia (e.g. 1KW to 1MW UPS and Data Centre Cooling Products), all of which played a part in facilitating the growth in annual revenue from ~$800M in 1997 to ~$3000M in 2007. Responsible for Central Engineering site support group (~80 people) i.e. Mfg Eng (5), Test Eng (15), Facilities (5), NPI Project Management (5), Equipment Maintenance/Calibration (10), Tooling Eng and the European Field Service Centre (40).Directed the implementation of Lean Manufacturing Cells for factories in Galway and Castlebar.
