I taught IPC, or Integrated Physics and Chemistry for 9th grade and 9th grade English Language Learners (ELL) at Elsik High School. Nominated by the Physics department to lead the Science Team for this grade level.

Traveled and immersed in Guatemala, studied Spanish, built stoves, met wonderful people, hiked volcanoes, fell in love with Guatemalan coffee.

I was a research assistant in college - in the Dendrochronology (tree-ring) lab. This included, nay centered on, the extensive backpacking (7-15 day trips at a time) in mountainous environments in the Rockies and the Sierra Nevada to collect tree-core samples of conifers (Douglas fir, subalpine fir, whitebark pine etc.) for ecological and climate based research. Coolest. Job. Ever. (Ok, it's a tie with fixing go-karts in high school and my work now with SNJ. Not really, one of those is the clear winner.)

Plenty of odd jobs through high school and college. Worked hard, picked up some useful skills (cast iron huckleberry pie anyone?).
