My litigation practice focuses on all aspects of complex commercial disputes, with an emphasis on securities litigation, investigations and defending class actions. I advise directors and officers of corporations on their duties and obligations relating to corporate governance and business disputes such as derivative actions, oppression remedies and shareholder remedies. I regularly represent clients in investigations and hearings conducted by provincial securities commissions, IIROC and the MFDA. This experience includes defending individuals and corporations from allegations of insider trading, illegal distributions, market manipulation, investment fraud, Ponzi schemes, discretionary trading, and suitability matters. I have experience advising clients on compliance with domestic and international anticorruption legislation. My experience includes conducting risk assessments and international investigations in connection with allegations involving facilitation payments and the provision of other benefits to government officials. I regularly assist financial institutions and capital market participants with money laundering issues, legal mutual requests, search warrants, freezing orders, mareva injunctions, anton piller orders, Norwich Pharmacal orders and internal investigations both domestically and internationally, including offshore jurisdictions. Over the last number of years, I have been honoured to be named by Benchmark as a finalist in the Benchmark Canada awards category of British Columbia's Litigator of the Year and Canada's Securities Litigator of the Year.
