Profile bio

About Sean Dunn

My name is Sean Dunn and I am a third-year Honors student at the University of Connecticut studying Biomedical Engineering with minors in Materials Science and Entrepreneurship. As the Undergraduate Student Trustee, I continuously seek student input to best support the needs of my peers. On the Board, I am proud to represent the 25,000+ undergraduates - the champions, researchers, and scholars who make up UConn Nation. My main area of academic focus aligns with my research at the Cato T. Laurencin Institute for Regenerative Engineering at UConn Health. I am invested in the discipline of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Currently, I am working on two manuscripts with postdoc Chinedu Ude: the first detailing the developments in the field of artificial stem cells and the second updating the literature on biomaterial applications in the detection and treatment of COVID-19. I greatly value the opportunity to perform work in an internationally recognized, pioneering laboratory with the field's leading minds. My work as a Senior Analyst with Hillside Ventures STEM Fund, a student-led $1mm VC firm, further aligns with my research interests evident in my vertical: HealthTech. Some industry sectors I'm intrigued by include digital health, drug delivery, and medical robotics. I appreciate the hands-on educational experience I receive through the process of sourcing founders, hearing their stories, and determining whether their company and ideas are financially viable. My personal entrepreneurial endeavors also center around bioengineering and the process towards clinical translation.
