I worked in the capital procurement department where I had a few different projects. First, I worked with our mill in Fernandina Beach where I am assisted in setting up a framework for a rental yard program for their outages. Contractors will be able to rent material handling equipment as they need it on site versus renting the equipment and having to transport it to the site. This will reduce spend drastically due to WestRock not having to pay for the equipment for the entire time they are on site and not having to pay for transportation. WestRock will instead only pay for it for the time that is needed and use a local company. This program will also increase safety because all the machinery will be held in a single location on site versus equipment spread throughout the mill. My second project was a sourcing effort to reduce scaffolding spend at 2 of our mills in Florida, with a combined usage of $1.5MM annually. I was only there for the start of the project and will not be able to see the project through. My last major project was a roll tracking database. I was tasked with coordinating with all of our paper mills and suppliers to track every roll (2000+) when it goes out to be serviced. This will help increase the visibility by tracking service records, warranties and general information about the roll. When the database is implemented, there will be approximately $1MM in annual savings. This comes from savings in service, machine down time and taking advantage of warranties from suppliers that we had previously had not been using. I also used Ariba which is a project management tool that we use to track our projects and synergy savings of $59MM in year 1 of the RockTenn-MeadWestvaco merger. Show less

As a deckhand, I was in charge of greeting customers as they came up to the dock and in the store. We were a full service dock so we would take care of the customers and get them anything they needed from the store so they would not have to get out of their boat. I was also in charge of making sure the docks were clean and making sure all our customers were happy. I learned great communication skills and customer service skills.

Served as first point of communication for customers on the phone and in person. I visited customers in their home and offices to review their policies and help answer any questions they have. I provided excellent customer service to those needing help with their policies.
