If you want to get to know a little about me as a person, read on.* I met my wife in law school—she is my best friend. She embodies integrity. We have four children—boy-girl-boy-girl. I take a walk with my parents every Sunday morning when the weather permits. * I play roller hockey twice a week; and the rest of the week, I look forward to playing roller hockey. As a kid, I dreamed of playing basketball for UCLA. I was way too short, with not nearly enough talent to compensate. But John Wooden’s teachings still resonate with me: “Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.”* I relax doing puzzles.* I met my partner, Greg Dovel, way back when I was in law school. We are work soulmates. He also embodies integrity. Our most significant disagreement in 25 years was what shade of green to paint the office—glacial green or mint green. After a three-minute standoff, I gave in. I have tremendous respect for the attorneys at our firm and I am proud to call them partners and associates. * I have won enough cases that I don’t need to work – but I couldn’t imagine spending my time doing anything else. I have been called a “workaholic”; but I call it loving what I do. I love achieving excellence. I love the thrill of victory. I embrace the David versus Goliath mentality; for every Goliath, please pick me to be David.* I have maintained close friends throughout my life—I think it is because my nature is genuine and forgiving. Most of my clients consider me their friend. My most meaningful conversations tend to be with women and my Rabbi. * I try to live life to the fullest and have few regrets. I climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro with my wife, SCUBA dived the Blue Hole with my kids, cheered at a Super Bowl with my partner, and jumped out of a plane with my friends. I hope to get to know you as a person.
