I am a chartered civil/geotechnical engineer with 40 years experience in buildings, roads/highways, rail/metros, tunnels, maritime/ports, water and energy projects. I am technical leader of a team of 35 geotechnical engineers, geologists, hydrogeologists and environmental geotechnical engineers in Ireland, and am Arup's Global Skills Leader for Ground Engineering. I have worked all over Ireland, and in the UK, across many EU countries, Russia, the Middle East, China and the USA.I bring a hollistic approach to projects, ensuring that the site ground and groundwater conditions are properly understood, and optimised in terms of providing high quality, sustainable, safe and efficient solutions. For me geotechnical engineeering is the art of being able to quantify and manage the inherent risks and opportunities to development works from that which lies beneath. I trust in and deliver the facts, whether working for developers, contractors, public authorities, research institutions or as expert witness.
