While at Johnson & Johnson, I was given the rare opportunity to return to a role that I had previously done. This was interesting in the fact that there was little to no learning curve and I could start day one with contributions that would have lasting impact. The projects I took on were focused on optimization and time savings initiatives, as these were the main challenges for the role when I was in it the year before. Using the 80/20 rule, I automated the 80% of my role that was reoccurring and repeatable tasks, through advanced excel. The goal was to free up time to be able to analyse the other 20% of items that would be harder to resolve. During my time as Senior Analyst, I saved myself about 2-3 days a week through automation, which I loved. With the extra time, I could then go work on more projects to save either myself or others time in the same repeatable process. I am grateful for the wonderful team I got to work with that kept encouraging me to continue to review processes for optimization opportunities.

As part of the Johnson & Johnson Center of Excellence(COE), I was given a project based role to optimize spending and simplify budgeting. I became the Consumer Coupon subject matter expert and provided analytics for the Consumer Sector's coupon programs. During my time in this role, I consolidated the responsibilities of 5 analysts into my role through standardization and have increased the accuracy of the forecast. As part of the initiative, I led a comprehensive clean up of our coupon database. The end result was a process with data that was easier to understand, budgets that marketing could create without being exposed to the risk of redemption variation, and balance sheet reserve balances needing 10% less funding.

Working closely with many business partners, I had the goal of reducing the operating costs of the plant. As the finance business partner for all cost improvement projects, I had the ability to influence the companies business strategy. Using systems like JDE and Instantis, I kept track of all inter-company transactions and capital investments. It was also my responsibility to maintain the fixed assets and manage depreciation.
