I’ve been involved in web-development and marketing in various forms since I taught myself how to code back in 1997. While creative and entrepreneurial by nature, I have been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to be an intrapreneur while leading the formation of three multi-million dollar internal startups while working to reinvent and/or add new revenue streams inside existing companies. The most successful, www.fundingfactory.com leverages recycling as a way to create funding for schools and charitable organizations. Since inception, it has produced well over $30 million in funding and saved nearly 25 million pounds of e-waste from potentially ending up in landfills. As Co-President and partner at Environmental Reclamation Services (ERS), I ran an in-house software development and marketing team that supported multiple lines of business. We pushed the boundaries of what would later become commonly known as “re-commerce” by dreaming up and implementing unique programs all centered around the basic idea of collecting, refurbishing, and reselling consumer and business electronics products which had profitable demand in the market. While in this role, our team closed on and integrated three acquisitions, executed a recapitalization with a private equity partner, and constructed a state-of-the art processing center for technology laden devices. As ERS was on a massive growth path, it was acquired by Clover Technologies in 2010. I continued to build out our re-commerce programs for several years while working with Clover. In 2016, I acquired MaxBack.com from Clover Technologies. MaxBack is a consumer buyback and resale website for smartphones and other used electronic devices.
