Mr. McDermott was the global Vice President for Service Automation, responsible for all go-to-market strategies and sales for North American, EMEA, and Asia Pacific. He was the Executive sponsor for several global accounts and worked closed with senior leadership of major accounts to develop service automation strategies. Sean lead several teams for the transformation of BMC sales organizations, as well as a principal on the acquisition team for several acquisitions, including BladeLogic. Mr. McDermott led the development the Annual Worldwide Sales enablement for over 1500 sales and field-marketing staff. Finally, Mr. McDermott served as the Vice President of BSM Strategy, focused on aligning all BMC products into a single business service management offering and ultimately enabling sales staff to drive broader, “eco-system” deals.

Mr. McDermott was the CEO and Founder of RealOps, the pioneering technology of Run Book Automation and IT Orchestration. Mr. McDermott created the vision for the platform based on over 15 years of experience in complex, global network operations environments. Sean developed the business plan, led the spin out of intellectual property into a new corporation, and led the capital raises which resulted in $14M in venture funding from both East and West Coast venture capital firms. Mr. McDermott build the management team, developed the operations model, lead pricing decisions, and work with sales leadership to create go-to-market strategies. Mr. McDermott worked closely with global clients to develop IT automation strategies and position multi-million dollar deals with Fortune 500 banks and global telecommunications companies. Mr. McDermott led the acquisition of RealOps to BMC Software for 25x of revenue.

Mr. McDermott was the Director of Technical Services and led the build out of the first region outside of the New York City headquarters. Mr. McDermott was responsible for all profit and loss, and hiring all staff starting at zero. Mr. McDermott was responsible for development of solutions, go-to-market strategies, recruiting, staff management and sales.
