I teach history, in person and online, to students all ages from elementary school to senior citizens. As a historian, I use the past to help make sense of the present—and the future.I teach in-depth history courses online at my website, www.seanmunger.com. I specialize in applying analysis of the past to current problems: the way the world is changing (especially with regard to climate change), critical thinking and overcoming cognitive challenges, and gaining inspiration and insight from the past to help people be more successful, fulfilled and enlightened.My teaching helps lift a veil about the past. Why were those decisions made? Why did that war happen? How can we avoid making the mistakes that this or that person in history made? My students and clients are often people who are seeking to illuminate some darkness in their understanding of the past, or who want to dig deeper about a subject they already may know something about. I have a Ph.D. in U.S. environmental history (University of Oregon) and J.D. from Tulane Law School. I have also helped business and non-profit organizations understand the challenges and opportunities presented by climate change.
