As an EIT, I supported the electrical engineering and design team at Callidus on projects in the building services industry; primarily multi-unit residential (MUR), commercial and health care buildings. Towards the end of my internship, I was the lead electrical designer on a project consisting of two 6-storey MUR buildings and a 2-storey medical clinic. Primary day to day tasks included:->Producing electrical load calculations and designing electrical distribution systems including single-line diagrams->Designing full electrical plans for electrical equipment in buildings in AutoCAD->Producing lighting simulations to design lighting & lighting control systems->Interpreting & applying various building codes, regulations, and standards ->Interfacing with Hydro companies and Telecommunications providers to coordinate services to buildings->Coordinating with clients/contractors/sales representatives to support the construction process and provide guidance to overcome construction problems->Producing project documentation including permit, tender, construction, and close-out documents
