Organization: 20-person team of USA-based data scientists, 5-person team of Ireland-based data engineers and data architects, 5 to 15-person team of Puerto Rico-base seasonal operations workers. Reduced creation time from 18 hours to 2 hours of the underwriting analytics package by migrating from on-premise SQL to Microsoft Azure leveraging Databricks. Expanded standard analytics package using machine learning to include every OptumRx product and pricing structure. Built two teams from scratch: 5 person Dublin-based data strategy team and a 5 to 15-person team of Puerto Rico-based seasonal operations workers. Consistently achieved new yearly sales goals ranging from $10 billion to $15 billion net revenue growth and profit margin goals. Managed annual a $6M OpEx budget and $4M capital budget. Corrected old or incorrect assumptions (including Cost of Goods Sold, trend forecasts, patent expirations, and new drug launches) being used in live bids from 50% to 5% by developing a self-service tool for updating all assumptions during the bid process. Tool was developed in Python using Airflow. Increase employee engagement in organization from 70% to 80% (as measured by annual UHG-wide employee survey) through employee specific development plans, formalized 1-on-1 meeting structures for organization, and team activities such as charity challenges. Exceeded UnitedHealth Group all employee benchmark for engagement by 430 bps.
