Sean Quinn, Ph.D Email and Phone Number
With over 8 years of experience in protein biochemistry (4 years graduate plus 4 years post-doctoral), I am passionate about advancing the understanding and treatment of rare diseases. My mission is to leverage my expertise in antibody purification and biochemical characterization to discover and screen novel protein therapeutics that can improve the quality of life of patients. As a postdoctoral scientist at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), I was part of a collaborative and innovative team that is dedicated to finding solutions for complex and challenging medical problems in Hematology. In my post-doctoral research role, I successfully identified and screened monoclonal antibodies targeting factor V, a key protein involved in blood coagulation. Two of these antibodies have shown promising results in enhancing thrombin generation in human hemophilia A plasma. In an internal collaboration to evaluate in vivo efficacy, these antibodies exhibited procoagulant activity in a hemophilia A mouse model. This work has been supported by the National Bleeding Disorder Foundation and was presented at prestigious conferences such as the American Society of Hematology and International Society on Thrombosis and Hemostasis. I have also used various skills and techniques, such as mammalian cell culture, protein purification, Octet/BLI, Western Blotting, ELISA, enzymatic assays, and thrombin generation assays to optimize and validate the lead antibody candidates.

Postdoctoral ScientistChildren'S Hospital Of Philadelphia Jul 2019 - Aug 2024Greater Philadelphia AreaPostdoctoral research fellowship focused on developing/screening monoclonal antibodies targeting factor V. Through my work at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, two lead-candidate monoclonal antibodies have been identified that reverse the effect of Activated Protein C on thrombin generation and have been shown to be procoagulant in an in vivo hemophilia A mouse model. This work was supported by the National Bleeding Disorder Foundation. -
Phd CandidateRensselaer Polytechnic Institute Aug 2014 - May 2019Troy, NyKinesins are remarkable microtubule-based molecular motors in that they couple nucleotide hydrolysis to movement at millisecond or faster time scales! Single-molecule microscopy and stopped-flow kinetics experiments can provide the rates of different transitions within a kinesin’s stepping-cycle but cannot always provide a complete picture of how each motor domain behaves throughout a processive run. My research aimed to determine how heterodimerization of kinesins, particularly kinesin-2, impacts the mechanochemical properties of its two motor domains. Addressing this question using modeling allowed us to infer why heterodimeric kinesins evolved and their significance in the cell. This research involved using computational modeling with MATLAB, single-molecule, and stopped-flow kinetics approaches. -
