Duties also include constant communication to stakeholders and management, especially for conflict resolution and negotiations.Sample of managed projects include...Reactor Feedwater (RFW) Pump Coupling Replacements - Complete replacement of the existing geared pump / turbine couplings with new flexible diaphragm couplings that minimize required maintenance with substantially longer life spans. Project required extensive dynamic and torsional analysis of the new couplings to ensure no adverse affects would occur to the RFW pump and turbine. New couplings also required new coupling guards and a mock-up to familiarize the mechanics with the installation process.Emergent Recovery of a stuck RFW Discharge Isolation Valve - Following an outage, a RFW Discharge Isolation Valve (gate) experienced a stem-disc separation. An emergent cross-functional team was assembled to evaluate the condition and options necessary to open the valve (no parts available and all parts had long lead times). Following extensive First of a Kind (FOAK) risk evaluations, high risk challenge meetings, Foreign Material Exclusion planning and mock-ups, the station elected to open the valve via external means. With the expertise of a subject matter expert / vendor, the valve was hot-tapped and a push-rod system was used successfully to push the wedge out of its seat.

Replacement system was a modular chemical feed system with automated metering. Project required heat tracing / freeze protection, sub-grade pre-formed trenching and substantial testing of the replacement system.Alternate Fuel Pool Cooling (FPC) Assist Mode Piping Modification - Installation of a new piping cross-tie (ASME III/2 and III/3) between FPC and Residual Heat Removal (RHR) Systems to allow maintenance to occur on the Common Shutdown Cooling Header during a refueling outage. Project was implemented in two phases and required extensive high risk management. Phase I required securing of the FPC system, lowering the level of the Spent Fuel Pool to drain the FPC Assist Mode Piping and installing a new pre-fabricated piping assembly. Phase II required securing one train of the RHR system, performing the final tie-in, radiography and testing the system prior to turnover.

Numerous state and federal stakeholders.Component Cooling Water Heat Exchanger Replacements - Replacement of large safety component vessels due to the effects of normal wear and bio-fouling. Included fabrication of the heat exchangers, heavy engineered lifts, large pipe welds (+30") and various other mechanical and electrical scope.Nitrogen-16 Main Steam Line Monitors - Installation of main steam line radiation detectors to assist plant operators detect steam generator tube leaks and identify their locations. Project involved complex integration into the plant computer system and control room.
